I am inquiring about some Chinese patents. I found in the download file of the patent search results that some application numbers are the same as those in China, but some are different. I cannot find the application number on the Chinese patent search website. For example:
Application Id:CN192762365
Application Number: 10201600876836 (China: CN201610876836)
Publication Number:106347159
I want to know why this is happening? What are the composition rules of application numbers and how can they be converted into Chinese application numbers?
thanks

HI

What is the order of execution for boolean operators when I do not use grouping symbols ()?
For example: 「A OR B AND C」, the order will be 「(A OR B) AND C」, or 「(A OR (B AND C)) or not both?

I am asking this question because I noticed that the results of the following three search queries:
EN_TI:("electric car" OR (solar AND motor)),
EN_TI:(("electric car" OR solar) AND motor), and
EN_TI:("electric car" OR solar AND motor) are all different, and I'm not sure why.

thnks you

Hi there,

I have been trying to find the underlying patent data that allows me to reproduce the following graph by the World Bank (querying "Patent applications, residents" and "South Africa"):

https://data.worldbank.org/indicator/IP.PAT.RESD?locations=ZA

Since I wasn't able to reproduce anything like this using Lens.org and other patent databases, I reached out to the World Bank for help. They reproduced the same graph via the "WIPO IP Statistics Data Center" (https://www3.wipo.int/ipstats/editIpsSearchForm.htm?tab=patent), see screenshot here:

They also said that the data came from the WIPO and is searchable via Patentscope.

My problem is that I cannot produce the raw data via Patentscope. When I query Patentscope, I would assume something like ARE:(ZA) AND AD:(1998) return 200 patent applications from South African residents (see 1998 in screenshot above).

However, for 1998, Patentscope only returns 158 applications. From 1980 till today, Patentscope finds fewer than 10k applications for ARE:(ZA), while the World Bank aggregated a total of 58,773 applications over the same period. I tried different filters etc., but just do not get anywhere closer.

My questions are:

Can anyone think of (a) a possible explanation for the differences between aggregates in the graphs and the Patentscope results, and, if the issue lies with Patentscope, (b) alternative databases that would allow me to download patent data that, when aggregated, more closely resemble the numbers in the graphs?

Every hint is appreciated. Thank you very much.

Best wishes,
Andy

Dear all,
I'd like to extract the number of patents that fulfill (all of) the following criteria:

1. registered between 1995 and 1999
2. registered from inventors with residence in Germany or France
3. registered at American, European or Japanese office
4. relate to the IPC classes F02B, F02D, F02F, F02M, F02N or F02P

My syntax to do this is: IC:(("F02B" OR "F02D" OR "F02F" OR "F02M" OR "F02N" OR "F02P")) AND DP:([01.01.1995 TO 31.12.1999]) AND CTR:(("DE" OR "FR")) AND OF:(("US" OR "EP" OR "JP"))

However, the result is 0 patents. Can anyone help me on what I'm missing out? How would I have to adjust the syntax to obtain the desired patents?

Many thanks in advance and best regards
Christian

Hi, apologies if I'm asking this in the wrong place, but I was wondering if anyone could enlighten me on how a patent comes to recieve the number that it does. Is it purely a matter of chronology? Or is it possible for someone who works with the processing of patents to deliberately hold back the publication of a certain patent so that it is given a more favourable number? Say, for instance, if I wanted the patent WO2020123456 or WO2020111111 could I request or possibly pay for the privilege of having that number?

Thanks

Hello,

I'd like to retrieve all patents

1. with application year 1995
2. registered at the Indian Patent Office (IPO)
3. that were granted by the IPO
4. that belong to IPC classes A61K or C07D

My query is the following:

AD:(1995) AND CTR:(IN) AND GN:[* TO *] AND IC:("A61K" OR "C07D")

However, I am missing at least one patent that fulfills the criteria above (application 188/CAL/1995). The query without the IPC class finds the application 188/CAL/1995. Given that the application 188/CAL/1995 belongs to the IPC class C07D, I am wondering what is wrong here. Does anyone have any thoughts?

Thank you.

Hello,

I have been using the Advanced Search function to look for a series of terms in the Front Page field(s) but keep getting an "Internal error" (ex. reference P11-K9MY6U-23157; reference P21-K9M8TA-98977 and so on). I've tried shortening the term list (from 20 to 5), adjusting the syntax, wildcards, and groupings to no avail (more Internal errors). If it helps, I've turned stemming off, and have tried with both single family member on/off.

Thank you for any help/insight.

Hi,

I regularly download WIPO Large ResultList(10k) each week(typical after WIPO WO-publications on Thursdays).

This week I found in the downloadable EXCEL-list

(a) a change in the format of the provided Excel-List
(in contrast to previous weeks: as additional field:ABSTRACT/
as lacking fields(columns): Priority Data, FP Image

(b) a restriction to 1000 datasets (from 7173 sets in this week) in the file

( I checked my options setting for checking all options possible for the full download)

Did anyone notice to get similar results ??

Adressing to WIPO-Patentscope:

What is the reason behind this?
Will this chnage be continued further on?

How can I get the full LargeResultList(10k) like in the past weeks?

Thanks a lot!

Hi,
two related issues:
1. the "translator interface" no longer saves to my profile, so i have to re-select "translator interface" each time i log on (this issue started a couple of months ago).
2. Today, even when the "Translator interface" doesn't work, even when newly selected. The two columns with the original language and English translations of abstracts never appear, it is always just one column of English.
Hope there is an easy fix.
Thanks
Russell

Today, I had to register for a WIPO login to access Patentscope.

On searching Publication Date:20190103 and IPC:C07 I obtain 306 hits. On hitting the search button to see a list of the hits nothing happens.

I have checked all the settings and cannot see a problem.

Is there something I have missed?

Hello,

I was trying to get a graphics display of my results but I could not proceed further once I clicked the graphs icon next to the minus sign on the Analysis bar. I get the following display:

As you can see all the categories Countries; IPC, Inventor, etc have disappeared which prevent me to select the category I want to display as a graph.

Am I the only one to have this problem? I did not have any issue with the old version of the Analysis tool.
Please note that I did select graph in the results section in the options link.

Regards,

Francoise

It has been impossible to download the data from PCT's national phase entries either the weekly data or the historical one.
Can this be solved?

It is now possible to search keywords in the description and claims of the UK patent records included in PATENTSCOPE: about 2.3 million full text records are searchable, dating back as far as 1859.

The UK national collection was added in August 2015, whereupon patent searches could already be performed on millions of UK bibliographic data records (titles and abstracts), dating from as far back as 1782.

On 31-08-2016 there are more than 10k patents published and while trying to download the complete data page wise for that particular date, only the first page is downloaded always.
Is there any other option to get the complete data out??
