Language and stemming options

Having some problems with language and stemming options. These don't seem to affect the search results, and additionally I wonder why there are specific language searchable fields if I need to specify the language as well? ( this is particularly apparent in the advanced search interface ).

If you enter the exact language fields in your query (ex. FT_TI:voiture) then the language setting is disregarded.
