Possible to get RSS feed in .xml instead of .jsf?

The rss.jsf does not work with office 2016 sharepoint online. Apparently an .xml feed is needed for this. Is it possible to produce the .xml url? I would really like to use the patentscope feed for this search, it's the best!

PATENTSCOPE RSS feed is an xml feed even if it doesn't have the xml extension which is not a requirement. It works perfectly fine with other RSS readers. Please contact a Sharepoint expert in order to configure it correctly or switch to another reader if no solution can be found.
